Summer 2009: A Journey of Self-Discovery Amidst the Afghanistan War
Summer 2009 is a memoir grounded in the journal I kept during my deployment to Afghanistan.
It explores identity, loss, friendship, the cost of war, and the search for meaning in moments that change us.
This book grew from a journal I wrote during the summer of 2009 while deployed to Helmand Province. Years later, I revisited those pages to understand how that time shaped who I became — as a Marine, a police officer, and a man. My hope is that readers find something familiar in their own journey of growth and reflection.
