About Andrew
Andrew grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and joined the United States Marine Corps in 2006 immediately after graduating from high school. In 2008, he deployed with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion to Al Anbar Province, Iraq, followed by a second deployment in 2009 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as part of Operation Khanjar. The summer of 2009 proved to be a formative period—one that would shape his understanding of service, identity, and personal growth for years to come.
SERVICE & LEADERSHIP
After leaving the Marine Corps, Andrew joined the Yarmouth Police Department, where he spent more than thirteen years and rose to the rank of sergeant. During his career, he became involved in peer support, veteran outreach, mentorship, and community engagement, carrying many of the lessons he learned in the Marine Corps into a new form of service. In 2026, Andrew medically retired from law enforcement due to injuries sustained in a serious accident.
WRITING & FILMMAKING
Writing began as a way for Andrew to make sense of his own experiences and eventually gave him a means to share his story with others. He is the author of Somewhere in Between: A Marine’s Journey Through War, Loss, and Peace, host of the Lessons Learned podcast, and producer and director of the feature documentary Living the Dream. Through writing, film, and conversation, his work explores the people, experiences, and unexpected moments that shape our lives.
